AIGA Reno/Tahoe presents the second annual
BIG AWESOME STUDENT PORTFOLIO DAY.

This event offers you the chance to evaluate and critique the advertising, design and journalism students of northern Nevada. They’ve spent hours pixel-pushing, kerning and memorizing every PMS color’s RGB value and are finally ready for honest feedback and insight into what it takes to make it and maybe, land that summer intern position you have open. This is an invaluable opportunity for students and professionals alike. AIGA will even make sure you are well hydrated and fed. You might even consider being on the Q&A panel. If you are interested in putting in your two-cents, please email info@renotahoe.aiga.org.

Students wanting to show off their hard-earned graduating portfolios, please register for the event. In addition to individual space to display and discuss your printed and digital work, a looping audio/visual presentation will showcase your best work, along with your contact information.

Confused on what to bring? Show up prepared. You can display your printed work, we suggest you mount the pieces or lay them out in a book. Some students use iPads or laptops to display websites, e-blasts or any digital work. Business cards are a must.

After registering, email four to five digital samples of your best work by May 21, in RGB JPG, PDF or QT format to info@renotahoe.aiga.org. Please provide your name, phone number, email address, and location of the school you attend.

Professionals: Free to attend and critique
Students: $10 (table and space fee)

Thursday, July 18, 2013 / Sparks

AIGA Reno/Tahoe invites you to explore the typography of Sparks' Victorian Square at the second annual TypeWalk. The goal is to search out, spot and take photos of the very best 26 letters of the alphabet represented in paint, print or in the glowing lights of the neighborhood. The goal is to have the most unique photos in your creative search of the perfect j, q or b.

The best will be chosen for the second annual TypeWalk commemorative poster. The Typewalk is a collaborative event. Create a team of two or we’ll team you up with someone for some urban spelunking.

Don't forget to bring some cash as we'll be grabbing a bite from Blind Onion Pizza. All participants will reconvene at the Great Basin Brewery between 1030-11pm to view the slideshow from the evening and grab a night cap!

Registration for the event begins June 1, 2013. For more information visit RenoTahoe.aiga.org.

On July 17, you will receive your map and directions via email.

Tweet Up! Tweet your findings before, during and after the event! Type is everywhere, start looking. #typewalk2012 @aigarenotahoe @aigadesign
